Exhibition: Perfumes of China

As of today, and until August 26th, 2018, the musée Cernuschi is hosting an exhibition focused on the “Perfumes of China” throughout the history of the country, from the 3rd century B.C to the 19th century. For this event, the art venue gathered about twenty works of art from its own collections to add to the unique pieces lent by the Shanghai museum. In total, 130 art and archaeology works -including drawings, bronzes and paintings- were combined to explore a major element of the Chinese culture: incense. The museum designed for lovers of Chinese civilisation an olfactory course imagined by the perfumer-designer François Demachy from the Dior House of Perfume. The latter recreated incense recipes, thanks to old Chinese compositions translated into French, dating back to great periods of the Chinese history, the Six dynasties, Tang, Song, Ming and Qing. A stunning visual and olfactory experience awaits you just a few metro stations away from the Green Hotels Paris, the Eiffel Trocadéro and the Gavarni.

Exhibition “Perfumes of China, the culture of incense in imperial times”, from March 9th to August 26th, 2018.
Open every day from 10a.m. to 6p.m., except on Monday and some holidays.
Full rate: €9 / Concessions: €7 / Free for those under 18.
