Exhibition: L’Ecole de Lingnan, l’Eveil de la Chine moderne
With this exhibition entitled "L'Ecole de Lingnan, l'Eveil de la Chine moderne" (“The Lingnan School – Rise of Modern China”), the musée Cernuschi retraces the history of the last great school of traditional Chinese painting. Visitors will discover Chinese naturalistic paintings, as well as various scenes depicting the everyday life of the people. Founded at the beginning of the 20th century under the influence of the Gao brothers and Chen Shuren, the Lingnan School was first inspired by the Nihonga movement (traditional Japanese painting). Little by little, it evolved while witnessing the rise of nationalism.
