Our outdoor cinema festival guide

With its recent scorching heat strokes, France has well and truly put on its summer coat, and Paris is no exception. With the coming of warm days, outdoor cinema festivals settle in the Parisian area. From short film screenings to classics of the history of cinema, following are four festivals that the Green Hotels Paris recommend.

Outdoor Cinema Festival of La Villette
From July 22nd to August 23rd 2015, the Outdoor Cinema Festival of La Villette returns with an ever more enticing program on the theme of housing. Alfred Hitchcock's Rebecca, Jeff Nichols' Take Shelter, Tim Burton's Beetlejuice, or even, Martin Scorsese's Shutter Island... so many classics to watch of rewatch, seated on La Villette's fresh lawn or on a deckchair rented on site!

Cinéma Au Clair de Lune 2015
For its 15th edition, the Forum des Images' Cinéma Au Clair de Lune festival settles in various Parisian areas, from Montmartre to the Parc Montsouris, from the Place des Fêtes to the Place des Vosges, and features free outdoor film screenings from July 24th to August 9th 2015. Farewell, My Queen, by Benoît Jacquot, Frantic, by Roman Polanski, or even La Grande Vadrouille, by Gérard Oury... From the 12th to the 18th arrondissement, the Cinéma Au Clair de Lune ("In the Moonlight") features an eclectic program, focused on classics of the cinema.

Outdoor cinema at the Batofar
For the third year in a row, the Batofar lets visitors enjoy free outdoor film screenings from August 23rd to August 30th 2015. The Batofar is a Parisian barge well-known to the inhabitants of the French capital for its beach, aperitifs, and summer music. UBLO, the visual creation department of the place, let us discover a series of innovating creations, combining short films with sound illustrations and visual experiments every evening from 10pm onward.

Cinema in the Swedish Institute's garden
Once again this year, the Swedish Institute, sole cultural center owned by Sweden abroad, gives Parisians the opportunity to enjoy outdoor film screenings in its garden. With an intimist program, the Cinema in the Swedish Institute's garden festival is to be enjoyed in a deckchair or simply on the Hôtel de Marle's lawn, at the heart of the Marais.
