Ugly fruit and vegetables finally take their revenge!

Until now they were thrown away because supermarkets did not want to sell them, but all the fruit and vegetables that are ugly, twisted, weird-looking, damaged by the weather (rain and hail) or simply too big, will shortly take their revenge on sized vegtables. An operation called "Quoi ma gueule?" ("What's wrong with my face?") has been launched by French association "Les gueules cassées" ("the ugly faces"), in order to prove to consumers that those ugly vegetables are as good as the beautiful ones, and have the same nutritional quality. Each year, farmers throw away thousands of kilos of apricots, tomatoes, cherries, strawberries and apples, and they have to pay destruction costs when fruit and vegetables don't match the norms. Several supermarkets participate in this initiative, in order to change people's minds and consumption habits and to reduce food waste.
