Exhibition: Medusa. Jewellery and taboos
We spoke to you about it last week, in addition to the exhibitions dedicated to Karel Appel and to Derain, Balthus and Giacometti, the musée d’Art moderne de la Ville de Paris is interested in jewellery through "Medusa. Jewellery and taboos". Until November 5th, 2017, lovers of beautiful objects and jewellery can admire more than 400 exceptional pieces. Some were designed by great artists such as Man Ray, Louise Bourgeois, Niki de Saint Phalle or Lucio Fontana, others are the works of contemporary jewellers’ like Sophie Hanagarth or Karl Fritsch. Of course, this important retrospective also displays jewellers’ jewels, such as Cartier or Van Cleef & Arpels. Above all, the museum also presents anonymous creations, or others originating from the Prehistory and the Middle Ages. The jewel is thus introduced as one of the oldest and most universal artistic forms, worn by punks as well as rappers, by women and men, as a precious accessory or simply ornamental. This fascinating event is available just a few-minute walk away from the Green Hotels Paris, the Eiffel Trocadéro and the Gavarni.
