Exhibition: Karel Appel. Art as Celebration!

Until August 20th, 2017, the musée d'Art moderne de la Ville de Paris presents the work of the Dutch cosmopolitan artist Karel Appel, just a few-minute walk away from the Green Hotels Paris, the Eiffel Trocadéro and the Gavarni. Karel Appel was one of the founders of the CoBrA group. Created in 1948 in Paris, and dissolved in 1951, it gathered great artists such as Pierre Alechinsky and Asger Jorn, who praise a more experimental and spontaneous art. Their techniques look like children's drawings, with an intentional naivety and spontaneity. The retrospective is inter alia interested in paintings and ceramic sculptures made by the artist during the 1950s, but also in installations realized in the 1970s and 1990s, as well as a testament-painting designed by Karel Appel, shortly before his demise.

Exhibition "Karel Appel. Art as Celebration!", from February 24th to August 20th, 2017.
Open from Tuesday to Sunday, from 10a.m. to 6p.m.
Nocturnal on Thursday until 10p.m.
