Exhibition: Fortuny, a Spaniard in Venice

After “Dalida, her Wardrobe On and Off-Stage”, the Palais Galliera starts its cultural return with “Fortuny, a Spaniard in Venice”. Since the last 4th October, 2017 until 7th January, 2018, the museum of Fashion of Paris is interested in Mariano Fortuny y Madrazo (1871-1949). He was a great painter, a talented fashion designer and a Spanish engraver, Venice being its adopted town. A hundred of pieces are presented, coming from the Museo del Traje in Madrid, the Museo Fortuny in Venice and the Galliera funds. He invented the “Delphos” dress, created in 1909. Made in plain and pleated silk, it can be tidy in a ball and rediscovered with its original form and fluidity when unfolded. Organized near from the Green Hotels Paris, the Eiffel Trocadéro and the Gavarni, this retrospective also allows to learn that Mariano Fortuny was a design, stage lighting and staging lover, in a nutshell, a jack-of-all-trades. An exciting event that will please beautiful materials and pieces lovers.
