Manko: Peruvian Chef Gastón Acurio opens its first Parisian table

Only open since a few days, the first French table of the Latin America star Chef Gastón Acurio already gets itself much talked about. For good reason, this cook already owns about forty restaurants all over the world and notably the famous Astrid y Gastón, his historic establishment located in Lima in Peru.

A single to Peru
Whether it be on a par with its decoration or its menu, Manko invite us to a complete change of scene. The chef called upon interior designer Laura Gonzalez, to whom we owe La Brasserie d’Auteuil, La Gare or Le Bus Palladium, to combine the Parisian chic to the Peru exoticism. The result is impressive, both by the bright colours (blue inca, ochre, magenta, deep green) and by the materials used (brass, marble, mosaic, precious wood, floor tiles cover the floor, kilims etc.). This address claims to be both chic and muted, while remaining accessible thanks to menus with affordable prices.

A gastronomic table
Manko-Paris can praise to suggest a Peruvian gastronomic cooking. All the greatest local specialities are proposed there, made by Chef Ruben Escudero, who worked several years with Gastón Acurio in Lima. A la carte: "Cebiches" as Nikkei, made up of the blue fish of the moment (like mackerel for example), avocado, radish, sesame and "leche de tigre" with tamarind, a lemon juice mixed with fish fumet, coriander, onion and aji. But also Peruvian kebabs with meat, fish or vegetarians, marinated with cumin, oregano or aji (Peruvian chili) called "Anticuchos".

A Peruvian cocktail bar
With Manko, the Montaigne Avenue gives itself a new…Peruvian cocktail bar! The barman suggests several sorts of Pisco, a raisin eau de vie coming from Peru, which is possible to taste pure or in a cocktail version. We also find old rums and Mezcal, an eau de vie produced from the agave. From 10:30 pm, the place turns into a cabaret, with artists who perform aerial acts, hanged above the tables, or who intervene between the tables, for a mind-blowing show!
