Exhibition: Le Maroc médiéval
The Musée du Louvre, through its exhibition entitled “Medieval Morocco: an empire from Africa to Spain”, brings to light the influence of the Almoravid, Almohad and Marinid dynasties upon contemporary Morocco. Nearly 300 pieces from various domains – clothing, calligraphy, architectural ornament, even ivory – are exposed. This retrospective allows to appreciate the Moroccan art throughout the centuries, as well as the Algerian, Tunisian and Spanish ones, since these dynasties lead conquests of the South of the Saharan desert (North of Mauritania) and North of Algeria and Tunisia, all the way to Andalusia.
Exhibition “le Maroc medieval, un empire de l’Afrique à l’Espagne”, from October 17th 2014 to January 19th 2015.
Open every day, except on Tuesday, from 9am to 6pm.
Late opening on Wednesday and Friday until 9.45pm.
Entrance: €13.
