Exhibition: Trompe-l’oeil, imitations, pastiches and other illusion techniques

The Musée des Arts décoratifs puts an emphasis on the art of misleading one’s senses through illusions, imitations, pastiches, and of course trompe-l’oeil. These techniques, which emerged with frescos and ancient mosaics, mostly use perspective and chiaroscuro. You will discover these optical illusions in tableware, fashion, toys, advertising, wallpaper and furniture. Astounding.

Exhibition: “Trompe-l’oeil, imitations, pastiches and other illusion techniques”, from February 2nd 2012 to January 5th 2014.
Open Tuesday – Sunday, from 11am to 6pm.
Late night on Thursday until 9pm.
Closed on Monday.
Full rate: €9.50 / Concession: €8 / Free for under-18s and for the 18-25s living in the E.U.
