Exhibition: Architecture et pouvoir

In addition to its retrospective dedicated to Georges-Henri Pingusson (1894-1978), the Cité de l’architecture et du patrimoine, located near the Green Hotels Paris, the Eiffel Trocadéro and the Gavarni, welcomes a new exhibition dedicated to the Metz cathedral, within the galerie des moulages (gallery of mouldings). This event focuses particularly on one of the flagship architectural elements of the edifice: its gate. Built in 1764 by Jacques-François Blondel, the Metz cathedral’s gate has evolved over time. Indeed, it was replaced in 1903 by a neo-Gothic gate, which is still in place today. This transformation is portrayed by means of photographs and documents. Visitors can learn that such an architectural choice was influenced by politics, at the time of the annexation of Alsace-Moselle by Prussia. This event will undoubtedly delight architecture and history lovers.

Exhibition “Architecture et pouvoir. Un portail pour la cathédrale de Metz” (“Architecture and power. Metz cathedral’s gate”), from march 28th to late September 2018.
Open every day, except on Tuesday, from 11a.m. to 7p.m.
Nocturnal on Thursday until 9p.m.
Access included in the museum entrance ticket.
