Climat HD (Climate HD): Météo France’s free climate application
Since COP21 is taking place in Paris from November 30th to December 11th, 2015, Météo France has adopted the theme of global warming as part of its new, free, application "Climat HD". It has been available on the Météo France site since September 29th, and will become available for tablets during the month of October. You'll have to wait until 2016 to access it via your smartphone with a new second version that will also cover French overseas departments.

A fun application to help you understand how the climate is changing
"Climat HD" ("HD" for "high definition" or "yesterday and tomorrow" - "hier et demain" in French), gives you access to meteorological data since 1900. Thanks to its graphics and maps, you can see how temperatures have changed, but also the rainfall, heat waves or dry spells, both nationally and by region. As Patrick Josse, the current Director of Climatology and Climatic Services for Météo France, explains: "The idea is to create a visualization that everyone can understand. One of Climat HD's best features is to present our knowledge of the climate in the past side by side with our projections about the century to come." To analyse the future, this application uses most likely case modeling projections. As Maryvonne Kerdoncuff, Deputy Director of Climatology at Météo France, explains: "If we do nothing, this is what we are heading towards." So that is what "Climat HD" is preparing us for. It is hoped that an English version of the application will be available before COP21 begins.
