Exhibition: Paper tigers, five centuries of painting in Korea
To celebrate the 130th anniversary of the France-Korea diplomatic relations, the Guimet Museum started a “Corée Season”, with several exhibitions and events dedicated to the Korean art. With “Tigres de papier, cinq siècles de peinture en Corée” (“Paper tigers, five centuries of painting in Korea”), the public is invited to discover the thematic and the evolution of this art from the 14th to the beginning of the 20th century. The Korean painting distinguishes itself from its Chinese rival, with an improbable dialogue frequently represented between the tiger and the bird, and by a certain poesy. Visitors could admire works from religious paintings, paintings of lettered people, and contemporary art. This rich and varied retrospective can be discovered just next door the Green Hotels Paris.
“Tigres de papier, cinq siècles de peinture en Corée Exhibition” (“Paper tigers, five centuries of painting in Korea”), from October 12th 2015 to February 22nd 2016.
Open daily, from 10am to 6pm, except on Tuesday.
Full rate: €9.50 / Concession (18-25 years): €7 / Free for underage.
