Exhibition: Tattooists, Tattooed
The quai Branly devotes its new exhibition to the origins of tattoo and to its global and current revival. You discover that in Eastern, Afrincan and Oceanian societies, tattoo plays a social, mystique and even religious role, by accompanying tattooed people through rites of passage so they can be accepted by their community. On the contrary, Western cultures have long considered tattoo as a sign of infamy and criminality, but also as a circus attraction, before becoming an identity mark in some urban tribes. Today, tattoo seems to be everywhere, in magazines and on famous people's arms. It even conquered TV screens, with show like "Miami Ink" and "L.A. Ink".
Exhibition: "Tattooists, Tattooed", from May 6th 2014 to October 18th 2015.
Full rate: €9 / Concession: €7 / Free for the under-18s.
