Exhibition: Paula Modersohn-Becker
Until August 21st 2016, the Musée d’Art moderne de la Ville de Paris is exhibiting around a hundred of works (paintings and drawings) created by German avant-garde artist Paula Modersohn-Becker (1876-1907). It is the first retrospective consecrated to this great painter which is organised in France. After training in Berlin, she stayed several times in the French capital and met artists she admired like Gauguin, Cézanne, Matisse or Rodin. Her works distinguish themselves with their avant-garde colour and style—representing most often landscapes, still lives, mothers and their children or self-portraits. Between strength and extreme sensitivity, the artist succeeded in understanding and transcribing again with genius the very essence of the different models who have posed for her. This event can be visited just nearby the Green Hotels Paris, the Eiffel Trocadéro and the Gavarni—at the heart of Passy village—in the 16th arrondissement.
