Cosmos organic: the new organic label for cosmetics

Europe is preparing to adopt a brand new organic label for cosmetics, from 1st January 2017. Its name is "Cosmos organic". It will cover all organic body care products sold in the European Union. There are five European associations and certification bodies responsible for its creation: Cosmebio, Ecocert, Soil Association, BDIH and ICEA. Its purpose is to harmonise the various beauty products sold in Europe, so that consumers are not confused and are guaranteed to find the same components from one country to another. Two new standards will take effect from 2017 for cosmetic brands that want to obtain certification. They must only use biodegradable ingredients, and must increase the quantity of organic ingredients in their products from 10% up to 20%.
