Exhibition: L’Italie de Bernard Plossu
The Maison Européenne de la Photographie (European House of Photography) is hosting 170 pictures taken by French photographer Bernard Plossu, who shares his passion for Italy in this exhibition entitled “Bernard Plossu’s Italy”. Born in 1945 in South Vietnam, the artist discovered Italy in the ‘70s. There, he recaptured his childhood memories and his mother’s roots: “Italy took a hold on my soul, and my soul took a hold on Italy”, as he liked to say. He fell in love with the country and travelled back there every year to take some wonderful photographs. Inspired by the aesthetics of the New Wave, the US counter-culture, the western movie tradition and the Italian Neorealism, he dreamed of becoming a filmmaker as a boy. These influences are prominent in his pictures. A very poetic exhibition to discover until April 5th.
