Exhibition: Gareth Nyandoro – Stalls of Fame
For the first time, the Palais de Tokyo welcomes the artist Gareth Nyandoro, with his exhibition entitled “Stalls of Fame”, shown from June 14th to September 10th, 2017. For his first French retrospective, the Zimbabwean artist has created paper artworks inspired by urban spaces, and specifically, pop-up stores. Once there, we can admire, amongst others, a piece which was produced in bookseller’s stall of the Seine: one of Paris’ most emblematic symbols. Large paper canvasses depicting painted interpretations of celebrated figures who play a role in the African worlds of politics, society, and sport, are also exhibited, flowing from the wall to which they have been attached to and onto the floor of the gallery. This exhibition, which mixes sculpture and street art, is ready to be discovered not far from the Green Hotels Paris, the Eiffel Trocadéro and the Gavarni, in the 16th arrondissement.
