7th edition of Monumenta at the Grand Palais
After the Kabakov couple and their “Strange city”, this is the turn of the contemporary artist Huang Yong Ping to confront the hugeness of the Nef du Grand Palais, for the 7th edition of Monumenta. From May 8th to June 18th 2016, the visitors will have the possibility to admire the founder of contemporary art in China’s surprising installation. The artist got himself noticed further to his participation to the exhibition Les Magiciens de la Terre (1989), at the Grande Halle de la Villette. We also remember well the gigantic paper mache octopus hanging from the ceiling of the Oceanographic Museum of Monaco. Huang Yong Ping is thus not afraid to play with spectacular.
A magistral work synonymous with thought
For this edition, he will make an immersive installation made up of eight assemblies with different colours, topped by a structure whose shadow will mixes with the metallic ribs of the Grand Palais’s glass roof. This work represents a symbolic landscape of the economic world of today and leads us to reflect on the transformations of our world.
This event can be discovered a few underground stops from the Green Hotels Paris, down the Champs-Elysées.
