The Festival d’Ile-de-France: Already 40 years!

Since last September 3rd and until next October 9th, the Festival d’Ile-de-France celebrates its 40th anniversary! On the programme, these are numerous concerts, meetings but also visits which await festival-goers and invite them to discover the riches of Ile-de-France.

Music of yesterday and today
For 40 years, it is through music that the festival has known how to build its identity. World, modern, ancient or baroque musics resonate in places sometimes inaccessible to the public like castles, circuses or former factories. Creating pretty often bridges between musical repertoires, the event puts forward cultural mixing. To go deeper into the topic, workshops, masterclasses, screenings or meetings are planned—encouraging exchanges between professionals and amateurs. Thus, let’s gather on next September 22nd to meet Heo Youn-Jeong at the Korean Cultural Center. Just nearby the Green Hotels Paris—the Eiffel Trocadéro and the Gavarni—this geomung player—a six-string traditional zither aged 1600 years—comes to discuss the instrument’s position in modern music. Finally, if you want to know more about the Ile-de-France heritage, some visits and hikes are suggested—before the concerts.
