Exhibition: Esthétiques de l’Amour
For its new exhibition, the musée du quai Branly takes an interest in decorative arts of Far Eastern Siberia, and presents a new collection of ancient objects collected in the late 19th and early in the 20th century. All pieces presented evoke the interaction between the men’s world, the spirit’s world, and the wild nature. Visitors will have the occasion to admire protective dresses made of fish-skin, but also rituals accessories decorated with symbolical spirals or volutes, and everyday implements. This retrospective enlightens us about the life of these populations from the Amur River basin, as the Aïnous, the Nivkh, the Orotch, the Nanaï and the Hezhe (Chinese minority). They besides lived until the middle of the 20th century at the Amur River. All these populations are bind together by the practice of salmonids hunting and fishing. People can discover this event nearby the Green Hotels Paris (the Eiffel Trocadéro and the Gavarni hotel), in order to understand all the richness of these people named “barbarian with fish-skin”.
