Yuka: the app which scans food labels

Created in 2017 by Julie Chapon, François Martin and Benoit Martin, Yuka is a free French mobile app which scans and decodes nutrition fact labels on food products. It’s very easy to use, all you need to do is scan the barcode of the product and Yuka determines its value. With a simple click, the latter is analysed and graded out of a hundred according to its nutritional quality, the presence of additives and whether or not it's organic. Mediocre, bad, good, or excellent, you instantly assess the health impact of your item. In addition to decrypting lists of ingredients which are often unreadable, Yuka has a considerable asset: the suggestion of a better alternative. Indeed, if the product is rated bad or mediocre, the app offers you a healthier option, low in fat and sugar, and more importantly, without additives. Yuka makes your life easier by providing you way to be sure everything you pick out is healthy. With Yuka, understanding food labels has never been easier!

Yuka is available for free on iOS and Android, in French.
