The exhibition "Paris 1874. Inventing Impressionism" at the Musée d'Orsay runs until July 14, 2024,
150 years ago, on April 15, 1874, the first Impressionist exhibition opened in Paris. "Hungry for independence, Monet, Renoir, Degas, Morisot, Pissarro, Sisley and Cézanne decided to break away from the rules by organizing their own exhibitions, outside the official channels: Impressionism was born.
This unique exhibition plunges visitors into the origins of a movement that revolutionized painting and art in the late 19th century.
No fewer than 130 works will be on display at the Musée d'Orsay, revisiting the crucial turning point of 1874.
