La Textilerie: the sewing workshop and recycling centre of Paris

Created by Alice Merle and Elsa Monségur, La Textilerie is the new ethical spot of the capital. The 130m2 premises are located near the gare de l’Est and divided into a sewing workshop, a coffee-shop, a haberdashery, an eco-responsible designers’ shop and a recycling centre.

A place dedicated to ethical fashion
At La Textilerie, it is possible to find affordable second-hand clothes, for men, women and children. One can also learn to make clothes by taking a sewing or a knitting class. The shop offers 90 types of GOTS certified organic cotton (which guarantees that they are free of pesticides, chemicals or GMOs), available to create skirts, tote bags or baby clothes. Customers can also drop off used fabrics which will then be sorted out and reused during DIY workshops, or donated to associations. Sewing machines can be rented by the hour. La Textilerie also includes a coffee-shop with a wooden counter, perfect to take a gourmet break before a class.

Open from Tuesday to Friday from 11a.m. to 7:30p.m. and on Saturday from 10a.m. to 7:30p.m.
Closed on Sunday and Monday.
Clothes: from €3 to €20.
Sewing machine rental: €7 an hour.
