Exhibition Women trailblazers
Female artists of the first half of the XXth century played a major part in the development of the great modern artistic movements , and yet, nevertheless, they were never recognized as such. The course of the exhibition wishes to reinscribe them in the process of art in transformation : from fauvism to abstraction, via cubism ; and also, in the spheres of architecture, dance, design, literature, fashion and in the field of science. Around fifty artists and their works are waiting to be discovered.
So long marginalized and discriminated, it’s only recently that women and their role are finally explored in the various avant-garde currents. Their plastic and conceptual researches bear witness of their audacity and their courage when facing the established conventions that attempted to confine women in certain defined positions and stereotypes. They express in so many different ways the will to redefine the role of women in the modern world.
