Exhibition: From the Jordan River to the Congo River

For its new exhibition, the musée du quai Branly revisits the art and Christianity in Central Africa, and presents about a hundred of works of Christian inspiration. There, visitors can discover sculptures, engravings and draws, as well as crucifix and necklets. These items have been brought with the arrival of Catholics missionaries before being diverted by the people of the empire of the Congo, which regroups today countries like Angola, Gabon, Congo and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Cross necklaces, female Christs and images of saints with African features have thus been made. All of these creations, products of centuries of mixing cultures, are to be discovered until April 2nd 2017, just a block away from the Green Hotels Paris, the Eiffel Trocadéro and the Gavarni.
