« Forests support most of the earth’s biodiversity », according to the FAO. To be precise, they host «80% of the amphibian species, 75% of bird species and 68% of mammals », and also « an important amount of the species of trees that exist on earth ». Forests also represent the habitat of the most endangered species of fauna and flora listed  on the red list by the UICN , International Union for Natural Conservation.
