“L’Âge atomique”
Just a stone's throw from the hotel, the Musée d'Art Moderne in Paris invites visitors to rediscover the history of modernity in the 20th century through the imaginary world of the atom. The exhibition invites visitors to explore the various artistic representations linked to the scientific discovery of the atom and its applications, notably the nuclear bomb, whose dramatic consequences changed the course of history. Through nearly 250 works (paintings, drawings, photographs, videos and installations) and documentation that has often been previously unpublished, this exhibition presents, for the first time in a French institution, the multiple positions adopted by artists in the face of scientific advances and the debates they engendered. Tackling a subject that is more relevant than ever, it is fully in line with the museum's desire to reflect contemporary cultural and societal issues in its programming.
