La Bayadère by Rudolf Noureev

Created in 1992, La Bayadère tells the story of the impossible love between the dancer Nikiya and the noble warrior Solor promised to the terrible Gamzatti, story situated in a fantasmagorical vision of India with elephants, tigers and palanquins. Rudolf Noureev adapted Marius Petipa’s choreography - to a music written by Ludwig Minkus – thus renewing the ballet with virtuoso variations and grand collective movements. The famous Kingdom of the Shades in the third act is considered as an apex in choreography.

Forever an undeniable sucess at the Paris Opera, the incredible richness of Ezio Frigerio’s settings and Franca Squarciapino’s costumes make of La Bayadère a flamboyant production
