Exhibition: Rivet’s Generation
When the exhibition “The Native Forests, arts of equatorial Atlantic Africa” ends on January 21st, 2018, the musée du quai Branly – Jacques Chirac offers another retrospective: “Rivet’s generation. Pioneers of Anthropology”. It pays tribute to the creator of the musée de l’Homme in Paris, Paul Rivet (1876-1958), that directed it since 1928, and who was one of the fathers of French ethnology during the 1920-1930’s. Objects and documents collected during Paul Rivet’s numerous travels, namely during his missions in Vietnam, in Ecuador and on Easter Island are unveiled to the public. It is the occasion to learn more about the history of French ethnology, just next to the Green Hotels Paris, the Eiffel Trocadéro and the Gavarni.
