Alonzo King and the LINES Ballet dazzle Chaillot
As of March 9th, and until March 16th, 2018, the Théâtre National de Chaillot is hosting the LINES Ballet dance troupe of the American choreographer Alonzo King. After a carrier in the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre, the prestigious contemporary dance company based in New York, Alonzo King decided to found his own ballet company in 1982.
A show at the crossroads of genres
For his new contemporary and classical dance show, "The Propelled Heart", Alonzo King partnered up with the talented American singer Lisa Fisher who accompanies the 12 dancers of the LINES BALLET on stage. Inspired by the theory of the Indian guru Sri Yukteswar, according to which the heart possesses 5 states (dark, propelled, constant, dedicated and pure) and eight obstacles (hatred, shame, fear, sadness, censorship, racial prejudices, pride and respectability), Alonzo King imagined a choreography focused on what urges humankind to analyse the nature of the universe and to look for the absolute truth. Mixing modern and classical movements, the dancers move gracefully on the stage of the Salle Jean Vilar (Jean Villar Room), led by Lisa Fisher’s powerful and delicate voice. This representation is available just a few-minute walk away from the Green Hotels Paris, the Eiffel Trocadéro and the Gavarni.
“The Propelled Heart” by Alonzo King, from the 9th to the 16th of March, 2018.
Shows at 3:30p.m., 7:30p.m. or 8:30p.m., according to the dates.
