The ParisLongchamp hippodrome gets a makeover
After two years of renovation work launched in October 2015, the ParisLongchamp hippodrome is reopening its doors to the public. Fully refurbished, it is located at the heart of the Bois de Boulogne, near the Green Hotels Paris, the Eiffel Trocadéro and the Gavarni. It is now the Parisian western spot to discover this summer.
An eco-friendly racecourse
The location’s makeover was led by the architect Dominique Perrault. The racecourse was thus renovated according to the HEQ certification (High Environmental Quality). Currently, the space is endowed with 600 trees, 600 sq m worth photovoltaic panels on the roof of the building and a 100% geothermal heating system. Dominique Perrault provides the Longchamp hippodrome with a modern touch, by including a 160-meter-long gallery, embellished with a glass building where transparency and perspective games are legion. This architecture offers a 360-degree-overview on the racetracks where horseraces take place, as well as on the stables or even the horses’ parade ring.

ParisLongchamp hippodrome: a gourmet food haven
Three restaurants await the visitors: the Panorama, a gastronomic temporary restaurant headed by chef Jean Imbert, a traditional Parisian brasserie and a guinguette. The latter is a family-friendly place with a summer and countryside atmosphere, with straw bales, squared tablecloths and paper lanterns. While children enjoy pony rides and carrousels, adults will be able to relax around pétanque games and after-works. Indeed, every Thursday from May to July 2018, semi-nightly races as well as events entitled “Jeuxdi by ParisLongchamp” will be organised. It is the perfect opportunity to discover a new type of Parisian parties!
Bonus: the ParisLongchamp racecourse is setting up an open-air concert stage designed to host music festivals such as Solidays (website only available in French) in June, and Lollapalooza in July.
