L’Atelier des Lumières offers 16 exceptional nocturnes


Alongside its exhibitions Yves Klein, Infinity Blue and Monet, Renoir, Chagall ... Voyages en Méditerranée, l'Atelier des Lumières exceptionally opens its doors in the evening to present The Last Sentinels, Jimmy Nelson's first immersive creation.

Located in a former 19th century foundry, l'Atelier des Lumières offers grandiose immersive exhibitions via its 3,300 m2 of projection area. For the start of the school year, this new kind of cultural venue presents The Last Sentinels, a magnificent exhibition based on hundreds of photographs and films by Jimmy Nelson. After Yann Arthus-Bertrand in 2018 - for the benefit of the Good Planet Foundation -, it is therefore the turn of films and photographs by British artist Jimmy Nelson to flood the walls of the Atelier des Lumières. In support of the Jimmy Nelson Foundation, you will be able to discover The Last Sentinels exhibition during 16 exceptional evenings from October 16 to 31. A 40-minute journey into the heart of the last indigenous cultures and landscapes from around the world, the exhibition celebrates the diversity of peoples who live in harmony with nature. “Now is the time to recognize and celebrate the world's remaining indigenous communities as new role models. They are the living example of how humans can live in perfect harmony with themselves, their unique cultures and the natural world, ”says photographer Jimmy Nelson.

Stunning portraits and landscapes

Specially designed for l'Atelier des Lumières, The Last Sentinels unveils snapshots and films on the last indigenous peoples of the five continents. Through the stunning portraits and landscapes, you will be able to contemplate cultural rites and traditions to the rhythm of a soundtrack inspired by musical compositions from Africa, Siberia, India, South America and Aboriginal Australia.
