Exhibition: Ron Amir. Somewhere in the Desert
From now and until the 2nd of December 2018, the Musée d'Art moderne de la Ville de Paris will host an exhibition by Israeli photographer Ron Amir (born in 1973), named “Somewhere in the Desert”. Ron Amir is a committed photographer who is interested in sensitive subjects on the margins of society. Some 30 large-format colour photographs and six videos from 2014-2016 highlight the living conditions of refugees in the Holot detention centre in the Negev Desert in Israel. Escaping from Sudan and Eritrea where they were persecuted, these migrants found themselves in this centre with a right of free exit, but with an obligation to check in and out every morning and evening. The photographer's shots study their daily lives and how they have managed to build community infrastructure from scratch in a deserted region. This fascinating retrospective is to be discovered only a few minutes’ walk away from the Green Hotels Paris, the Eiffel Trocadéro and the Gavarni.
Exhibition “Ron Amir. Somewhere in the Desert”, from September 14th to December 2nd, 2018.
Open from Tuesday to Sunday from 10a.m. to 6p.m.
