From tomorrow and until July 23th, 2017, the Musée du quai Branly-Jacques Chirac focuses on the connexions Pablo Picasso had with non-occidental arts. The retrospective “Picasso Primitif” is organised in partnership with the national Musée Picasso-Paris and falls into two parts. As a first step, the visitor discovers the artist’s personal collection which makes us travel from Asia to Africa, from America to Oceania, thanks to photographs, objects, letters and documents. These objects unveil the artist’s curiosity for the non-Western creation. In the second section, the works of Picasso are exhibited next to non-Western artists’ pieces of art. This face-to-face conception allows us to realise that the artists had the same questionings in their works, especially concerning nudity, sexuality, impulses, and body destruction, among other things. An event particularly interesting to discover just a few blocks away from the Green Hotels Paris, the Eiffel Trocadéro and the Gavarni.
