Exhibition: Orchidées de Colombie, sur les pas de Humboldt et Bonpland
Within the framework of the Année Croisée France-Colombie 2017 (2017 French-Colombian Year), the Muséum National d’Histoire Naturelle (National natural history museum), in partnership with the Enlaces Artisticos association, wishes to value the orchids described by Humboldt and Bonpland during their expedition to Colombia in the XIXth century, thanks to the exhibition “Orchidées de Colombie, sur les pas de Humboldt et Bonpland” (“Orchids of Colombia, on the foodsteps of Humboldt and Bonpland”). This retrospective is held at the Galerie de Botanique, in the 5th arrondissement of Paris, where one can admire pictures of orchids and an interactive card map with historical data. By selecting every step, it is possible to discover the observations, the notes, the drawings and the prints of both naturalists, and we can also access information regarding the herbarium specimens, extracts of field notebooks and pictures of flowers. Revisit the exploration of the South American flora of Humboldt and Bonpland, until March 5th, 2018!
