Exhibition: The Humboldt Brothers
In 1789, Guillaume and Alexandre Humboldt were 20 years old. They were part of a generation that enjoyed a great social and geographical mobility. Born in Berlin, they lived in London, Rome, Paris and Vienna. During their many journeys, they were able to meet major intellectual figures of the XIXth century, from Goethe and Chateaubriand to Arago and Madame de Staël. Through paintings, mockups, mineralogical collections, busts and other items, this exhibition is a tribute to the two brothers, who embodied the new state of mind in Europe at that time.
Exhibition: "Les frères Humboldt, l'Europe de l'esprit ", from May 15th to July 11th 2014.
Open Monday - Saturday, from midday to 6pm.
Free.
