Exhibition: The Treasure of San Gennaro
The new exhibition of the Musée Maillol deals with the huge treasure of San Gennaro, Saint Januarius, who died a martyr and is the patron saint of Naples. The treasure was gathered by Neapolitans in the 16th century, in exchange for the protection of this saint who had passed away two hundred years before. Some of the exhibited objects are masterpieces of jewelry, such as the saint's blood reliquary, made of silver-gilt, and his miter adorned with the "Vesuvius' Lava", made of rubies, diamonds and emeralds.
Exhibition: "The Treasure of San Gennaro", from March 19th to July 20th 2014.
Open every day, including Tuesdays and public holidays, from 10:30am to 7pm.
Open on May 1st and 8th 2014.
Full rate: €13 / Concession: €11 (for the 11-25s) / Free for the under-11s.
