Exhibition: Great Black Music
Thanks to a high number of audiovisual archives, teaching modules, interactive digital devices and instruments, the Musée de la Musique (French Music Museum) is developing the meaning of the expression “black music”. Artists such as Michael Jackson, Cesaria Evora, Billie Holiday, Oum Kalsoum and Bob Marley are gathered in this exhibition. It reveals the unity that lies between these artists and their different musical styles, from traditional African music to the “great black music” concept, which was theorized by the Art Ensemble of Chicago in the 1960s. This retrospective will arouse interest in every great music lover.
