Exhibition: Gauguin the alchemist


Outside its exhibition dedicated to the photographer Irving Penn, the Grand Palais welcomes another giant of the Art’s world: the painter Paul Gauguin (1848-1903). Major artist of the 19th century, he is one of the precursors of modern art. To expose and reveal all his talent, the museum unveils his works regarding painting, engraving, ceramics, sculpture, or even drawing. Because “Gauguin the alchemist” was a jack-of-all-trades. This important retrospective was organized in partnership with the musée de l’Orangerie and the musée d’Orsay in Paris, but also with the Art Institute of Chicago. Through this event that is to be visited a few subway stations from the Green Hotels Paris, the Eiffel Trocadéro and the Gavarni, all the painter’s creative process is unveiled, but also his works on materials that he made throughout his life.

Open every day, unless on Tuesday and on 25th December, 2017, from 10a.m. to 8p.m.
Nocturnal on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday until 10p.m.
