Exhibition: Country Life, Chefs-d’œuvre de la collection Mellon

With its new exhibition “Country Life – Chefs-d’œuvre de la collection Mellon du Virginia Museum of Fine Arts”, the musée de la Chasse et de la Nature once again explores man's relationship with nature and animals. Until December 2nd, the paintings collected by the billionaire and art lover Paul Mellon (1907-1999), bequeathed to the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, will decorate the walls of the museum. Paul Mellon and his wife Rachel Lambert Mellon (1910-2014), nicknamed “Bunny”, came from the financial world and decided to settle in the heart of the Virginia countryside, in the United States, where the couple perpetuated the tradition of the “Gentlemen Farmers”. He decided to breed race horses, and she started gardening. Over the years, they would build up an impressive collection of masterpieces that entirely evoke their two passions: nature and horses. This exciting retrospective will undoubtedly delight all fans of the genre.
