Exhibition: Chefs-d’œuvre d’Afrique
For its new exhibition, the musée Dapper, located close to the Green Hotels Paris (the Eiffel Trocadéro and the Gavarni), shows around 130 exceptional pieces with “Chefs-d’œuvre d’Afrique” (“Masterpieces from Africa”). Masks, weapons, jewellery, statues, statuettes, and even altars illustrate the traditional arts of Western and Central Africa, from Mali, Benin, Gabon or Cameroon. These objects with aesthetic design also embody moments of life of different population where they have been created. Among them: initiation rituals of teenagers or mature men in order to increase their knowledge, as technical as esoteric, the development of lands’ fertility, the cares, the women’s fertility or the homages to the ancestors. This interesting retrospective can be visited until July 2016.
