Exhibition: Bernard Buffet

Until 26th February 2017, Paris' Museum of Modern Art (MAM) is hosting a major retrospective of the work of Bernard Buffet (1928-1999), considered one of the greatest painters of the 20th century. One hundred paintings are exhibited, including self-portraits, still-lifes, and items from various cycles - religious, literary and allegorical. This is an opportunity to discover, or rediscover, seldom shown works like "La Ravaudeuse de filets","La Passion du Christ", and "Les Folles." The exhibition also looks back on the artist's interest in history painting with "Horreur de la Guerre" and the history of painting with "Le Sommeil d’après Courbet". This event is organized chronologically, from his beginnings as a painter, until his death; and can be discovered close to the Green Hotels Paris, the Eiffel Trocadéro and the Gavarni.
