Launched in 2007, Earth Hour is a WWF (World Wild Fund) event that encourages every earthling to turn off the lights during 60 minutes, everywhere in the world. At 8:30pm sharp (French time), and for an hour, each and every one of us is invited to show their commitment to the fight against global warming. In 2013, 135 countries participated in the event, from Australia to Europe and from the United States to Abu Dhabi. The lights of some of the most famous monuments of the world, like the Eiffel tower, Sydney's opera house and the Empire State Building were turned off for an hour.
