Discover the slackline
Created in the 80s in the US Yosemite National Park, the slackline is a hybrid sport, combination of gymnastics, balance, walking, and, in some cases, extreme sports. In full expansion, this activity, practiced on a strap stretched between two anchor points (trees, poles, peaks...), has succeeded to seduce and delight those in search for new experiences in the city, as much as in the wild. Do not be surprised if you run into one of those funambulists in the Parisian Bois de Boulogne or Bois de Vincennes, or even in a park, since the slackline has gathered a considerable urban public within capitals. Additionally, this activity allows for people to be closer to nature and enjoy it in peace.

A tight community
Authentic guru of urban funambulism, famous American thrill-seeker, Dean Potter, has widely popularized this movement, today practicable by all. After placing the strap 30 to 60 inches above ground, "slackers" will either "simply" walk on the thread or attempt various stunts. This discipline is also known to be beneficial to balance, focus, and muscular strengthening, as some physiotherapists advise it to strengthen the ankles. It is however advised to Parisian beginners not to start out on their own and rather join the Parislack association (in French), friendly and united community organizing various meetings in Île-de-France. Ultimate summer sport, to be practiced near the Green Hotels Paris !
