At the same time as Oscar Wilde, the Petit Palais is celebrating one of the giants of French Belle Epoque painting, Albert Besnard (1849-1934). Nearly 200 works are exhibited, in partnership with Evian's Palais Lumière. They highlight the modernity of this painter, who was responsible for the decoration of the immense entrance dome of the Parisian museum. For the record, Albert Besnard was the first painter who was given a state funeral, well before Georges Braque. He was also became a member of the Académie des Beaux-Arts in 1912, then director of the Villa Medici from 1913 to 1921, and was admitted to the Académie Française in 1924. This event is a unique opportunity to rediscover this forgotten painter, and only a few underground stations from the Green Hotels Paris, the Eiffel Trocadéro and the Gavarni.
