Rio 2: A Tale against Deforestation

Recently released in movie theaters, the animated movie Rio 2 relates with a lot of humour and colors the story of Blu and Perla, two parrots who leave Rio of Janeiro to go on a family adventure at the heart of the amazonian forest. Once on site, Perla finds her species, which she thought to be extinct... This movie full of humour actually deals with two topical ecological issues, that is the deforestation of the blue planet's lung, and the poaching of a species that does not live in the wild any longer: Spix's blue Macaw. Today, there are only 90 of these rare birds, and they all live in captivity. The reason for their disappearance? Men, who took advantage of the loyalty of blue parrots, very attached to their habitat and fellow birds. There have been a few attempts to reintroduce the bird into its natural habitat in the Norht East of Brazil, but it remains a very difficult operation.
