Exhibition: Héctor Zamora

With his new installation named “Ordre et Progrès”, the Mexican artist Héctor Zamora (born in 1974) keeps reflecting on the industrialisation’s history and social-economic models. This new creation is aligned with his previous works, like Every Belgian is born with a brick in the stomach in 2008 or Atopic Delirium in 2009. Displayed at the Palais de Tokyo, very close to the Green Hotels Paris, the Eiffel Trocadéro and the Gavarni, this work alludes to the deconstruction of hopes embodied by seafaring. To do so, Héctor Zamora gathered wooden fishing boats, which have been disassembled piece by piece. “Boats symbolise adventure and discovery, but they also embody the hope of a safe haven or the ability to survive in a hostile environment. While conveying images born from great mythological epics, nowadays, they are also symbolically linked to the migration crisis.” the artist reveals. An event which invites to question: Can progress be born from order?

Exhibition “Héctor Zamora: Ordre et Progrès”, from May 4th to 14th 2016.
Open every day from noon to midnight, except on Tuesdays.
