We were just 1 billion, 200 years ago. Forty years after we were 4 billion! And, since 2011, we passed the mark of 7 billion. Now, the question is: how long our earth can keep on taking? How can we live together, share the natural resources, and even anticipate migrations following from global warming? What future can we imagine? Yann Arthus-Bertrand, chairman of Goodplanet Foundation, highlights the stakes linked to the world population growth in a book. It unites personal touching portraits of people from 5 continents and relevant interventions of experts. An optimistic book, full of information, delivering a humanist message, necessary to learn how to live in peace.

The Bio Battery by Sony Digests Papers!

January 11th, 2012 by admin

Last December, in Tokyo, the Eco-Products 2011 took place, and Sony has revealed its last creation: an organic battery that runs on waste papers. Energy is generated by the digestion of sugar molecule contained in papers. Inspired by termite, which eat wood to get energy, pieces of papers are put in water and enzymes that extract sugar. After having been mixed, the liquid is put in the “bio battery”. Then, it can be used to power a small fan or a mp3. Although this battery is too small to replace bigger ones used for our electronics devices, Sony intends sell them someday. No launching date has yet been announced, but, bio stack have a future, for sure!

For the Sustainable Development, to Plug is In!

January 9th, 2012 by admin

While an Eco-responsible revolution is coming, smallest gesture in favor of the sustainable development counts. So, the Gavarni hotel has decided to highlight the innovating concepts which make themselves a name in the Eco-citizen sphere.

Ejector Jack

Did you know that even when they’re off, electronic devices plugged still consume energy? Laziness or forgetting, our planet suffers. Imagined by Pumping Tap designers, jacks have a spring, which throws plugged devices out after 10 min of inactivity. Clever, isn’t?

Smart Trailing Socket

Odixion has developed a range of trailing sockect which saves energy. More than easy, they detect the sleep mode and turn the power supply off, even for peripherals. Over-consumption and electric chocs are over.

The Champs-Elysées shine under the eco-friendly banner

December 19th, 2011 by admin

This year, Christmas lights innovate big time. Indeed, the world’s most beautiful avenue shines wearing environmental colors thanks to solar neon lights displayed on 200 trees of the Champs-Elysées. The plane trees sparkle like stars, adorned with little mirror discs, hung on branches and reflect the neon’s light. By the way, these neon lights have been made of a combination of LEDs which consume 31 000 kWh only, instead of  the 480 000 kWh of five years ago. The energy compensation is produced in a solar power station of the Pyrénées-Orientales. One aesthetic and ethical alternate to the usual little lights used during end-of-the-year festivities.
