Quinoe: organic restaurant in Paris

February 19th, 2010 by admin

Opened since the beginning of January, this new kind of fast food is a good compromise between urban consumption and ecofriendly policy. The food is prepared every morning in the restaurant’s kitchen (so the food is really fresh), and made only with organic and/or fair trade products. So between two appointments, the customers can discover black quinoa, pink rice or fonio (an cereal from West Africa). The Quinoe staff has thought about everything : the fast food decoration is ecofriendly (natural paints, vegetal based organic ink, sorting of recyclables) so we can sip on a sweet ginger-baobab juice. On top of that, Quinoe is also a fair trade grocery store, offering products labeled Max Havelaar, and recipe books (so you can impress your mother in law next time you invite her over for a family meal). You have the choice between two formulas : one at EUR 12 ( 1 course with a drink and dessert) or the one at EUR 11, 50 with a big salad, a drink and dessert. In the evening, the place becomes an ecofriendly bar, between 6 and 9 p.m.That a good alternive for our urban stressed out consumer society!

Vegetarian restaurant: Guen Mai

October 20th, 2009 by admin

Hidden behind the church of Saint-Germain-des-Pres, the mini-restaurant Guen Mai is a popular address of Parisian bobo like Jane Birkin! A good reason to go there? The Zen atmosphere of this vegetarian restaurant, which offers absolute calm. The decoration of the space is just a mind saving campaign, and the dishes are really fragrant. The vegetable pancakes, seeds, lentils and other miso are perfectly delicious. One way to eat healthily in the capital.

Open every day except Sunday, from 11:45am to 03:30pm.

Westside Kitchen: a nature restaurant

April 18th, 2009 by admin

Created by Frederic Elias in 1990, Westside Kitchen is a little corner of New York paradise in Paris, for the nostalgic of the big apple. In a comfortable and relaxed across Atlantic coffee shop atmosphere, a team is dedicated to make you a fresh sandwich, cold or hot, salads or pasta. This New York bistro-inspired offers a typical decoration which enchants the visitors: chrome stools, parquet floor, tiled countertop and so on.
Advertising, models and TV personalities are craving to get a wrap sandwich (wheat tortilla), special or bagel (sliced organic bread). Once the pain is selected, it only remains to you to choose your recipe as the Arizona-based smoked turkey and the guacamole. From 7.50€ to 9.20€ for a sandwich, 10€ for a salad and 19€ for a lunch box. You take your food in a recycled kraft brown bag and I must admit, at Westside Kitchen, everything is delicious.

Open from Monday to Friday, from 9am until 2pm. The cafe is open from 11am until 4:30pm.

Bob’s Juice Bar
Bob is in fact called Mark. He hails from San Francisco and serves great organic food from his store near the Canal Saint-Martin: soups, sandwiches, delicious fresh fruit juice and wickedly good muffins, US style. As well as the famed mixer which takes pride of place on the counter, there is a corner with all the American press for added atmosphere. A soup, muffin and smoothie lunch costs €8.50.
It’s well worth a visit not just because it’s environmentally aware, but also because the proprietor is friendly and engaging.
